寻寻觅觅

been back and working @ TNB for quite a while... i realise the same 'annual' problem has occured: 无心工作

studying in canberra has been like living in a monastery: 四大皆空. study was the only focus.

now, too much distraction or simply desperation.

i seriously need a companion to 定性 and of course my 心 too.

any one interested to watch the finals at the national stadium this wednesday?

The brotherhood of Irishmen

An Irishman walks into a bar in Dublin, orders three pints of Guinness and sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.

The bartender asks him, "You know, a pint goes flat after I draw it; it would taste better if you bought one at a time."

The Irishman replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in America, the other in Australia, and I'm here in Dublin. When we all left home, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together."

The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there. The Irishman becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way: He orders three pints and drinks them in turn.

One day, he comes in and orders two pints. All the other regulars notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your great loss."

The Irishman looks confused for a moment, then a light dawns in his eye and he laughs.

"Oh, no," he says, "my brothers are both fine. I've just quit drinking."

30 days

每个周末来匆匆, 去也匆匆。

一个月后的今天, i'll be back in my little cabin preparing for a week of 'left-right-left', before a new school term starts.

'attack of the clone'

it was 5 past 7 and i was there, as usual, at bedok station waiting for the empty train from tanah merah to arrive. there is this guy, most likely from NUS, taking the same train as me. i've seen him many times on my way to work and he would always alight at bouna vista. (dont get this wrong... i dont aim at guys.)

today, he was in boardshorts and shirt, and a addidas sweater. it was a nice jacket, i thought... primarily white, with black and red patches on the area near the shoulders and the usual 3 strips running down the length of the sleeves.

i was at the front end of the platform, and from that distance, i thought i saw a lady, just coming up from the escalator, wearing the exact same jacket! what a coincidence! she was walking towards that guy. that guy saw her too and for a moment i thought they knew each other. even if they dont, they would have made quite an impression with each other.

as the lady closed in... oh no! not the kind of lady the guy (or i) was expecting. she was still a lady, one with very thick make-up and in her mid forties! oops... i saw the guy turn around, back facing the lady, with a 'omg' expression on his face.

in the end, he didnt get into the same train with her.

sunny weekend

i know my weekend has been great when i dont feel the blue on monday.

there was a slight rain on saturday, but i reckon it was a timely rain, cooling off the noon heat, making the rest of the afternoon refreshing and just great for my weekly skate at the east coast park. (alright, not really weekly... i planned to do it weekly, but the weather hasnt been kind.)

the weather was perfect on sunday. it was sunny and i couldnt resist going to the pool for a relax swim and some tanning. the day ended well with wenjian birthday party @ aloha chalet. (once again, since today is the actual day... HAPPY BIRTHDAY WENJIAN!) this was the second birthday party i've attended in these 2 years (xinlian's 21st was the last one), and i reckon it was wonderful. i'm not going to elaborate much... i'm afraid i'll spoil it. (sigh... i wonder how much i've missed when i left for australia 2 years ago. well... i gain sth... i have to lost some other.)

Borat

Copyright © 2006 20th Century Fox

Sacha Baron Cohen - star of HBO’s hit comedy “Da Ali G Show,” takes his outrageous Kazakstani reporter character Borat to the big screen. In this hilariously offensive movie, Borat travels from his primitive home in Kazakhstan to the U.S. to make a documentary. On his cross-country road-trip, Borat meets real people in real situations.

This is a good comedy, a really funny one if you dont mind racist, sexist, and all sorts of (as stated above) offensive jokes... keep your mind open and dont take them too seriously, they are meant to be funny. i wldnt recommend it if you are the holy kind. well, if you are not and havent have a good laugh for ages, i guarantee this movie will keep you laughing for more than an hour.

looking back, i think i would have preferred sharing the cost of the DVD with a group of friends, settle down at someone's place with a big tv & good sound system and spend the night watching the comedy. i'm the type that prefer actions on the big screen, comedy and drama on the smaller ones. i wont spend 8 bucks (how much is weekend movie?) on a weekend cinema for this.

but of course if you prefer to share the joy with a large crowd, by all means go for it. dont allow me to spoil the good laugh.

二十二

meeting huiying (dhs class mate) on two consecutive days was too much of a coincidence. surprise alone wont be enough to describe the feeling then. i havent seen her since we graduated from dhs which seems like ages ago. ha... it was pleasant given a chance, no... 2 chances meeting and chatting with her.

friday was another old-friends-catching-up-session. this time it was a planned dinner with boys from my JC class. there was no girl bcos the three girls that we invited were not free yesterday. next time perhaps. anyway, boys outing was never too bad. there was never lack of corny jokes and 'head-turning' laughter. at least, we dont have to worry about what's next after dinner.

‘光阴似箭、日月如梭’ never thought that i would be able to use these words on myself. 二十二年就这样过了... it hasnt been the best, but it isnt that bad after all. i'll be looking forward to another even more exciting 22 years.

one of my all-time favourite:

untitled

it was a struggle, trying to figure out what i should put down in this first post for 2007. i'm not a superstitious person, but i thought it'll be nice to start the year well.

juices were squeezed out of my poor brain... but sadly nothing good came out of it. i'm still me, the same me few years ago. i'll try but i guess it will be a tough journey for me (someone who graduate from hokkien U before PSLE) to learn to write better.
