先苦后会甜吗?
Before i started school, there's a lot of time in hand and of course 精力充沛,but I never knew, or bright enough to know how to spend them wisely.
上了学后,I have 很多梦想。这个很想尝试,那个也很想试, but time and money were never on my side. 家境贫困的我没想过也不敢 take the route less travelled. Study hard seem like the only (safe) option in building a better life. So school has never failed to keep me occupied.
现在,也算是在半工半读吧。人人都看我好,studying abroad on scholarship seems like a great deal. 但谁又会了解到离乡背井的辛酸和寂寞。时不时我都会不禁对当初的决定感到后悔。Life in a civi university seems more interesting. Am I missing out a lot of things in my youth?
Recently, a friend of mine shock me with his comment: me in the Navy is 梦想成真 for me.
在此我再次声明 : 路虽然是我选的,但会选择这条路的原因绝对不会是自己。
What will my life be like after uni?
嗨... 嗨... 不堪设想。
Work... work... and more work. 也不是我要的呀。I got 自知之明,i know how shit i am. My 6 months in the fleet last year told me i'm no where there. Many times, i wondered: am i in the right place?
my life sux... at least now it is.
i'm trying hard to change it... but it's not easy.
have i made it better? or have i made it worst?

for the third consecutive time
it was in my plan to buy a one-way tix back home this time. and then from now on buy return tix to aust in singapore. the initial cost will be steep, but eventually, this will end up cheaper than buying 2-way in aust everytime.
to reduce the initial damage, i chose to travel on a less reputable airline: gulf-air.
'woa! serious ar!'
'eh, got insurance annot?'
'aiyo, got bar-woo one leh.'
these were some of the response from my mate when i first told them about my flight.
one of them added that the flight might not serve alcohol onboard. another suggested that i should bring some sleeping pills along. and one more who have travelled on gulf before told me that the entertainment system was faulty.
despite all these discouragements, i still went ahead with my plan.
when i got on the plane yesterday, there was a bit of drama. but other than that, the whole flight all went well and smooth. i didnt at all regret about taking gulf air. in fact, i was pretty relieved that i was on that flight!
believe it annot, for the third consecutive time, i was upgraded to business class!
the first time, was a free upgrade with no reason or string attached. the second time, also on BA, i was upgraded again bcos a long-legged guy was seatd behind me. i cant slant my seat back bcos of his long leg. for that i was upgraded. this time, i was upgraded for a couple of reasons.
(1) i was issued with a boarding pass for LIM WEE HAN. i looked around the check-in area and see no other chinese. i thought it was a typo mistake, or just a careless one as i doubt they wld come across chinese name very aften. so i didnt reali bother to seek for correction. as you would have expected, there was reali a LIM WEE HAN. what a coincidence. probably the onli 2 yellows onboard, but with almost similar name. anyway, the air stewardess was quick in her reaction and i was soon led to my new seat.
(2) some other guy was there at my new seat. he was a black guy, so he cant be LIM WEE something for obvious reason. after a few minutes, it was found that my seat was somehow allocated in the middle of his family, and he was given a seat further down the corridor, probably bcos of late check-in. after some explanation and negotiation, i was given my 'rightful seat'... er... with his brother on my left and his father on my right... what duh...
few minutes later, the air-stewardess that had been helping me all those while came back to me with good news. haha... i was again offered a seat in the business class!
well, it seems that things arent as bad as i've thot or told. the service was good and they spoke good english. the food wasnt the norm that i've been taking, but was still alright. everything was reali good and comparable to that of BA. well, i cant be complaining much with the service i was getting for a 500+ air-fare. some one up there seem to love me.

pre-departure snack - champagne and nuts

post-departure snack - jonnie walker and some snack. dont like the snack. a bit saltish for me.

dinner...

dinner again...

just when i thought dinner was over... more came.

the accent
weizhong called me yesterday just before he departed for singapore to comfirm a few trivials.
that's the third time (or maybe fourth) i've spoken to him since his arrival in aussie land. omg... believe me, his aussie accent is getting stronger each time. from the short talk yesterday, i can hardly detect any singlish or mandarin from him. i'm pretty sure you'll be caught by surprise when you get a chance to speak to him sometime.
he reali impressed me. the accent is not easy to pick up. out of the fourteen of us here in ADFA, i reckon onli two can be considered close enough. bensen seem to have done it pretty well within half a year!
i reckon by the end of next year, he'll be fully 'australianised'.

grad parade over
finally the graduation parade is over. yea! no more drills! no more drills for the next 3 months!
these few days at drills were horrible experiences. all these drilling, the 2-hr stand, the hot sun, etc were all nothing. it's the freakin' flies. kaoz... they reali irritate me to the max. they just loved to buzz around the head especially around the nose and ears area.
in a parade, i couldnt possibly move to fan them away. so i actuali have to resort to using my mouth to blow them away... woa... damn cham... never expect my mouth to get so tired after drills.
graduation is finally over. i'm officially known as 2nd year. the next few days will be accomodation-shifting. hope i wont have to move. it's not an easy chore to move out out my room... there's simply too much shit in my rooom.

kaoz... lidat means i hafta wait till coming March to get my license...
thinking on the bright side, that means i got more time to gain more exp. lidat oso good, still got a lot of points to spare for mistakes.

weird weather
it was hot and dry when i went for the oakley sale this arvo with eugene, yq and oliver. there wasnt much cloud cover. it's so damn hot that we even drove to rubees for ice-custard (concrete) to cool off.
天气说变就变。lucky i'm back in my room.
the whole sky is now very dark... the swinging trees show signs of very strong wind. i think there's gonna be a thunderstorm...

vrooom
i can pretty much drive around on my own now. not that i reali did. i'm still holding on to my L. so it's illegal to do solo drive still.
so far, i've been driving around canberra under the supervision of my frens. and i think i'm doing pretty well, with their guidance and my intelligence ^_^
i can drive... get to where i want to be... without causing any trouble to any other road users... i'm a pretty careful driver.
basically, i'm only left with the final test which i have to do it with a qualified assesor.
i dont think i'm gonna pass though... i still donno some of the 'standard procedures' that will be required...
like cannot cross-hand when turning the steering wheel... damn leh-chey siah
probably i'll take one test before i leave here, and see where am i standing.
if lucky, i'll pass (and beat jikok's record!).
if fail, at least i know where i'm weak in.

a milestone
100 km/h. They said it's a milestone of my life. Hmmm... and so i asked, what's next? 150? 200?
Anyway, i did a fair bit of driving (3pm - 9pm) to familiarise myself with some places within and just outside canberra.
Wet market isnt a common thingy here as most of the our needs can be bought from the local supermarts and they are everywhere. I visited one of the 2 wet markets around, and indeed it was an interesting experience. It's like bugis junction, but with single storey shops, all enclosed and air-conditioned. Surprisingly, the place didnt smell too bad as what we would expect in a normal 巴刹. It felt just like doing shopping, not for clothes this time, but for fresh poultry, seafoods, vegi, etc.. There isnt much room for price comparison or bargaining. From memory, i think there's onli 2 butchers and 1 fish-seller. Heaps of fruits, vegi, flowers and other groceries though.
Also in our visit list was a new shopping centre, 20min-drive from the wetmarket. Land spaces here are like 免费. Although the centre is onli 2 stories high, but it's very spacious within. Imagine a 2 stories jurong point with those '杂货店' in the middle all gone and of course with less people. Also, twiced the height of each storey! That's gonna be super spacious. White marbles flooring and sun-roof. The whole feeling was pretty relax. A wonderful place for shopping.
Tourist centre. Spend quite a fair bit of time collecting more info for our next trip probably next week or the week after.
Our last stop after a quick dinner was a book sale. It was a good sale, and we were told there's more to come. I bought 2 book which wld normally cost more than a hundred, but bcos of the sale, the damage is onlin 30 bucks.

头七
Seven days into my driving. I reckon i'll soon be able to take on the highway.
Driving in canberra is a diiferent story from singapore.
In singapore, 3 words summarise it all: "Who Dares Win".
Canberra drivers are more pilote (i'm not sure about the other states. my mates reckon they differ from state to state). Probably bcos it's the capital city, the drivers here are apparently more patient, especially to those holding their Learners.
The only thing that make driving hard here is most likely the roundabout. Canberra is a state of roundabouts. For some reasons, the city planners dont seem to like traffic light. Roundabouts are everywhere. Below is a portion of the ACT. Notice the number of roundabouts, big and small.

Within the academy itself, there's already 2. On my way to the nearest town, i wld have gone through 4. Even the new Parliament House (situated on top of capital hill) is enclosed by 2 huge roundabouts.
sigh... at the end of the day, the most shiong one is still my pocket. For only seven days, i've already consumed 30 bucks worth of petrol.

work hard play hard
After the maths paper last Thursday, I'm onli left with 2 to go, one tmr and the last one on friday. They weren't supposed to be too difficult so I thought it's time to give myself a little reward for the effort so far.
And so I was up till wee hours for the next few days, playing MJ and computer games, learnt driving plus watching 我的野蛮奶奶. I didn't catch a wink friday night just to finish the whole HK series. I ended up sleeping at 6am on saturday and didn't wake up till noon.
Didn't sleep much on saturday night as well bcos of the Liverpool vs A.Villa match at midnight.
by then, my bio clock was terribly screwed up. I thot I'll be able to make up for it by waking up early sunday morning, study whole day, and then sleep early for my paper on monday. I was wrong...
I was feeling terrible when I woke up this morning with a running nose and with the feeling you'll normally get when you have hay fever. It's most probably due to the lack of sleep, 火气上身.
I didn't manage to do much study in the end. Went for a rest after lunch and woke up for dinner, still feeling terrible and sneezy. I've got no choice but to force myself to start doing some revision, if not I'll definitely fail even though the paper isn't hard.
Sigh... stupid me. I will not screw myself this way again.

phew...
the bulk of the exam are finally over, leavin' me with onli three more papers to go. they should be pretty easy paper, if not i wont be doing any updating now.
the last few days have been a struggle, especially so when trying to read the lecture notes for the first time.
out of the 6 subjects, i was onli worried about 2. both them seemed so stranger to me. sometimes i can spend hours sitting in the library pondering over the same problems over and over again... scratch leg... pull hair... walk a round (sometimes a few rounds)... all sorts of weird techniques come out but still clueless. at times like these, only friendship can save me from fallin' further...

brain is dead
the week before exams is usually the time i start blaming myself... why did i sleep in lectures... why i skipped tutorials... why i kept procrastinating and didnt work hard... why...
there is a lot of catching up to do now and not much time left at hand... pant pant... can hardly breathe with all the workload piling up.
i know this would gonna happen. why did i still choose to screw myself this way?
so sick of mugging... seriously cant wait for exams to finish.

2 weeks to my first paper... and this semester's work is definitely not as easy as the last sem...
i should start considering about taking some time to mug in the library.

paint ball
paintball-ing was awesome and reali fun. simply terrific and... ouch...

...and painful too.
that's the bruise i've got on my back from a direct shot. don worry, not all shots will leave you with this terrible mark... it's onli those that gained enough speed.
i've got myself a total of 3 bruises from all these fightings. this is nothing as compared to my fren who kena sabotaged...
i got head-shot too... and there's a terribly lump on my head now. it should be alright in a couple of days.
apart from all these 皮肉之苦, it was definitely a great way to spend the day!

'die die... so late liao, but still cannot finish...'
i get so much adrenaline pumped when rushing last-minute work.
when it's completed (finally), it does gives an extremely strong sense of achivement... as it was initially believed to be a 'mission impossible'.
and sometimes if the work turn out to be a master-piece, i cant help but feel reali relieved that i didnt made the wrong choice of procrastinating earlier on.

spring can be bad, terribly
moths are everywhere!!!
it's crucial to check that my windows are closed and sealed everyday before the night falls. otherwise, there'll be heaps of moths hovering around the room, which will irritate the shit outta me.
when i'm sure that there's no way these buggers can get in, i'll draw my curtains and keep them closed throughout the night. the sight of moths all over the window pane is not at all pleasing... trust me, it's disgusting.
what's next?
i believe very soon, palm-size spiders will soon have their appearance...
and of course the flies!
OMG!

what's next?
i believe very soon, palm-size spiders will soon have their appearance...
and of course the flies!
OMG!

江山易改
每次要等到假期只剩两天,才发现功课只做了一点点。
This holiday didnt turn out to be exceptionally exciting as it wasnt in my plan to go any where. I'm actually saving up for the next hoiday. After my exam, i've got three weeks break before the commencement of 3rd-year gradutaion parade trg. I would love to skip this parade, but too bad it's a compulsory event for all trainees in the academy.
winching about it is not gonna change the fact that i'll be staying for a month after exam before i can fly home. i should be thinking of ways to make my stay less painful.
i'm hoping of make use the time to do some travelling around... wine tour seems like a great idea... wines are good and cheap in southern australia. you wont find such great deal in singapore... or probably i can join some local tour guide... anyway, my options are still open, and what ever i'll be doing depends reali on how much $$ i've got at the end of the day. eventually, if money is a real problem, i still have a low-budget option: i can make use of the time to start working on my license... just got my learner's license yesterday!

a quick update
there are times when u are down... u are and u want to be left alone.
there are times when u feel reali pissed off with life... an active volcano is living within, and everyone, everything seems to get on ur nerves reali easily.
there are times when u are just damn bored... nothing seems to interest u and able to keep u entertained.
finally this times are over, at least for now. but they'll come again, i'm sure. not a monthly thing though (^_^)... anyway, that's besides the point.
Jikok, u're not the onli one starting work at 6... yea, i know how shit it is trying to get up each day at 5 plus especially when you have a big one the night before. but wat to do... bo pian and still hafta carry on. so suck it up and look on the bright... think about me, i've still got 3.5yrs to go. when u ORD? not far i suppose... try to enjoy ur work now. when u finally ORD, who knows, u might actually miss these days.
Not much excitment going on here recently. Having academics and military trg together still sucks.
yesterday, was probably the most exciting day for the past few weeks (or probably bcos it's still fresh in my memories).
after getting some pointers from my mom, i embarked on a new hobby: cooking green bean soup. No mess, no fire no hiccups... everything turned out well and it was actually quite good. next week, i'll try on more stuffs like barley. my fren even suggested bobo-hitam... that would be a great challenge and i reckon i'll need more time to 'level-up' first.
anyway, as it was mid-autumn festival (theortically, it's spring in canberra now), a few of my s'pore mates crowded in my room for some moon-gazing, majong (i lost again, damn) and eating moon-cakes with my green bean soup. there wasnt a lot of moon cakes cos it isn't cheap to buy them here. so everyone just had about a quarter each and heaps of soup.
good evening, it was.

Why must you do it again
i just realised that i can still smile... finally starting to get on my feet again, recovering from the past weeks of depression.
but you did it again...
but you did it again...
To my dearest Mum

hope i'm just being over sensitive.
i really dont wanna lose a friend like you.

weekdays vs weekends
Weather is getting a bit warmer, and i'm actually perspiring (slightly) from doing nothing. What a relieve... the torture is finally coming to an end.
Academics are still as shit ass, and...sigh, let's not talk about military part. Monday and tuesday are so fully packed, that i'll always feel like nuahing for the next couple of days. Then come friday, and i'll always be at the field kicking soccer with the s'pore, thai & malaysia counterparts till late in the evening.
By the time i realise, it's weekend and my homework, mostly due mon & tues, are still lying on my desk, covered with 4 days of dust... alamak...
I think i'm a happier man in weekdays...
'C'mon la, weekends isnt too far away.'
I actually feel reali terrible on weekends...
'Oh dear, monday is coming!'

DA farewell dinner
awesome night with heaps of laughter and lots to drink.
the current defence attache (a colonel) is retiring and is leaving australia soon. we were invited to his place for a farewell dinner.
i don usually get to see him a lot. but from the last couple of dinners we had over at his house, he gave me a reali good impression. i thot he's a reali nice person to talk to, he's one of those few colonels that i feel comfortable talking to. i think everyone will miss his wife's cooking the most. whenever we're invited over to his place for a meal, there will definitely be lotsa delicious hometown food... mee siam, prata, teh tarik, curry chicken, ba zhang, fried rice... yum yum...
wonder how the new DA (and his wife) is like... hehe... **evil smile**
anyway, drinking was the main highlight after the dinner among the younsters today. everyone is trying to get everyone else (especially those non-drinkers) drunk. but experience has taught me well. i believe i'm kinda pro at dodging in this type of situation... i know exactly how to show people that i'm drinking alot when i'm actually not. this is especially easy when everyone gets high after lotsa drinks... i just dont like to get drunk... i've got a personal phobia with alcohol.
but anyway, the company and time spent are simply fantastic...
boys are so carefree when women and $$ are outta of the picture.

the maid
i've just heard about this errie figurine in Plaza Singapore, read it from this blog my fren introduced. i was seriously laughing my head off when i first heard about it. i thot it was funny... as in the incident itself was funny.
for sure, i wont wanna see tat in the toilet at midnight after watchin' the horror flick, especially when it's the seventh month now. i've got weak heart... i'll probably find myself six feet below if i sees it.
those ppl behind all these, seriously need to be educated on how to put a limit to their crazy creativity.

终于踏出第一步了
i finally manage to find time on weekend to go for this mandatory road ready course (similar to basic theory). i'm given three attempts at the test and just hafta pass once over the 2 days. i passed mine today but the gay rule still require me to be present for the whole of these 2 days in order to obtain my learner's license.
the lessson was sure damn boring. 5 hours...0930 to 1430. i almost died of hunger waiting for the class to end today. oh well, that's an exaggeration. but seriously, i was expecting a lunch break at noon before it continued.
sigh... gonna waste another 5 hours again tmr.

It's snowing!
woa... woa... woa...
it's reali beautiful. damn beautiful siah...
today is the coldest day i've experienced in canberra. it's onli evening time now and i'm feeling the shivers.
but i think the temperature is still not low enough for the gorgeous snow. the flakes melted within seconds it landed on the ground. not to worry. night temperature in canberra can drop to minus 10. the night is still young.
i realise that i'm not the onli mountain turtle. many of the aussie haven seen snow too.
==============
and so, what my fren said is true. this month will be the coldest month of the winter... brrrrr...
oh no... there's drill @ 7 tmr!!!

"connecting to media..."
"buffering..."
"streaming..."
"attempting to reconnect..."
trying to watch the ndp live telecast online but didnt reali catch much of it so far... there was more still pictures than any thing else. probably it's a sign that i should head back to my room now.
me and a few of us are tryin' our luck here in the school's computer lab. we've tried a few other places, but it seems that the connection is way to slow...
mr. president is inspecting the GOH... why so long? is he talking to the GOH? ... got so much to talk ar...
no, it has stopped again.
forget it. time to head back

Singapore Student Association Nite @ Holy Grail
it was a dinner-cum-get-together-party for all singaporean in the three nearby uni - ANU, UC and ADFA.
i think we're invited out of courtesy. we don reali noe the organisers or ppl from these uni, we don actually have any business to do with. onli a couple of us have frens studying there.
anyway, we are a pretty much "self sufficient" group of ppl. we get ourselves very comfy quickly, contented with our wines and jokes. there's this SSA's idol competition going on during the dinner. but we din reali pay much attention to it. we had quite a bit to drink. 10 of us, 8 bottles of wine within a couple of hours.
there was even more fun and laughter during the lucky draw. i dare say, our table was the centre of attraction then.
from what we know, there should be onli 36 booklets, each containing 100 lucky draw coupons. one dollar for each coupon but 50 for the booklet. there's 46 prizes altogether... first prize: tix back to singapore!!!
OMG!!! the first prize was too attractive to give it a miss. one coupon can onli get u that far... if u won the 46th prize, ur hope for the 1st prize would be gone. haha... we are dying to win the tix. to increase our chance, we bought 12 booklets altogther!!! do the maths... HAHA...
think about it. 36 booklets, and we have 1/3 of it, what's our chances??
our greatest gambler, kenny, bought 5 booklets... he din get the 1st prize but he did won 9 prizes altogther including a ipod shuffle and actually made a winning over a hundred dollars! it's reali hilarious to see him going up the stage again and again, sometimes din even get back to his seat when he's recalled for the next prize. everyone was pretty much stunt by his "luck".
me and yuwei shared a booklet and won ourselves 200+ worth of prizes!!! our table nab around 18 prizes (?? lost count...) altogther. Our biggest winner, zhiming, spent 50 bucks and got onli 1 winnings... the 1st prize!!! how lucky...
wonderful night.
but could have been better if the music played during the party time went in line with the "retro" theme... hated RnB.
more treats to shots during party time from the winners... but it didnt take long for the music to bore me

Day @ Perisher
...no. it should be "6 hours @ Perisher"
The day at Perisher wasnt too bad, not considering that:-
1. i was rushing my assignment and didnt slept until 3 am
2. i didnt catch much sleep on the 3-hr ride to Perisher as i would have expected
3. my toes were suffering from frost bite
4. i didnt get to ski or snowboard
5. the ride back to adfa took 6 hrs, as the usual route was closed down due to accident.
6. my uniform wasnt ready when i woke up the next day
but it could have been better for a virgin experience.
There wasnt much i could do that day. I cant ski and it's pointless to spend $$$ to learn how to within the few hours there. it was more like a sight-seeing-cum-whoa-ing day, and possibly has provide me with another good reason why i should be back some day again.

i'm seriously not looking forward to tmr's 'excursion' to Perisher.
it's only the second week of the semester and my work load is piling up faster than i can clear them. sigh... i hardly have time to catch my breath.
i've got an assignment due on monday, another on tuesday, and one more on thursday. sigh... i suppose i'll hafta work thru tonight to finish up the first one. as for the one due on tues, i guess i'll hafta burn more midnight oil on mon nite, considering my lessons on mon ends at 630pm. and there's also a test weighing 15% this friday...
this whole excursion idea seem to have screw up my time table. and the worst thing is that we're gonna stay there for only 1.5 hrs.
the bus is leaving for perisher at 630am, and should reach at 10. and by noon, we should be on our way back...! seriously, i don reali understand why we are making so much effort to spend less than 2 hrs up there.
we'll probably reach back here in the evening, and it should be time to start cleaning for inspection on monday. argh... so die die i must finish my assignment today. there is approximately 6 hrs of sleeping time onboard the coach. that should be sufficient to compensate for the lost tonight.
i hoping to start learning to drive soon, and i'll need a full weekend to attend a compulsory road-readiness course at the driving centre. please make it happen

2nd Sem, 1st Week
As most of u should noe, i got upgraded to business class when i travelled back to Singapore. U wont believe my luck. On my trip back to Sydney, i was upgraded again!!! Haha... i cldnt believe my luck too, what are the chances, two in a row... hehe... I was initially in the economy class, but i had this very tall white guy sitting right behind me, and i cldnt lean my seat back when taking naps. The very nice air stewardess noticed my discomfort and offered a spare seat in the business class. Bingo! haha... I still cant believe my luck...
Who say cannot bring 肉干 into aust?? Just rumours, and bullshit. Can what... well, i tried and succeeded. haha... i oso had with me a few packets of crispy cuttlefish and satay-fish, all went thru the custom without any probelm at all. If u intend to try, just make sure they're sealed and contained in clear bags.
Not every singaporean went back home this holiday. They've got service trainings, especially the first year, they wont get to go home till like december (& they've been here since january lo). Mr nice-guy thot it would b great to bring them some 家乡 food... and so he 铤而走险 and 'smuggled' the food thru. So thotful of him...
I've said before, Life is kinda fair... whenever Lady Luck comes for a visit, 祸神 shldnt be too far away too. And i was right...
It always take me a while to adapt to the change in climate. When i first got back home, it took almost 2 weeks for my sensitive nose to get used to the air. When she finally get settled down, i feel so sorry to throw her back to the other end of the extremes. It's always so dry, and getting blood stains on the tissue whenever i blow my nose is a common thing. Within 2 hours from waking up this morning, i was sneezing so badly that i used up 1 whole roll of toilet paper... sigh... i'll get better tmr.
Tuesday and thursday are still my most-hated day of the week. I've drills on these days at 7am. The temperature at this time of the day reali puts me off... sigh, and i cant help but thinking of ways to chao keng... i haven come out with any yet though. The parade square was green and i thot it was a great place for drills at the start of the year, when it's summer. Fogs came to inspect on us every now and then during the autumn. At the start of winter, temperature dropped below 8 degrees, and morning dew became morning frost. My boots seemed to like the frost, i had so much of it on my boots at the end of the lesson. My toes werent too happy about it.
Mid-winter now... temperature drops below zero every morning. The frost on the parade square get so cold that there's always a misty layer up to waist level... haha... sounds like heaven?
Minus 4 degrees wasnt reali a very cold temperature to be bitching about... open ur freezer and that should be the temperature. and yea, i probably wont if i'm a civilian, wearing as many nice warm clothings as i can afford... put on gloves, beanie... But no, i'm in a f**king military academy. They reckon is v garang to wear as little as possible... and so 白骨精 like me suffer big time...
Normally, the frost would haf melted when i have PT at 9am on certain days. But last wednesday, the frost decided to hang around a bit longer... and that day my fingers had their first taste of froze bite when doing pushups.
My aussie fren told me next month will be coldest month of the winter.
suck thumb...
Time to forget about all these morale-suckers and i should start looking on the brighter side of my life. I need more positives and perks to start the semester... sth more encouraging.
Tomorrow, there's a lunch gathering for all international students, including indon, malayia, fiji and NZ, in the academy and nearby military bases. Each country is suppose to bring their local food. sigh... headache siah. If we can find singapore food anywhere nearby, i don hav to bring bak gua back liao lo. Our best option is Tiger Beer which is available from the ambassy. The ppl here like the beer very much actually.
Next sunday, the navy sqn is making a trip down to Perisher, a favourite mountain for skiiers and snow-boarders w/in the state. Nah, i'm not there for skiing or boarding. There's some sort of snow related event called 'Leap for Loop' going on there. I'm not quite sure what it's all about. I'm looking forward more to my virgin experience with snow... hehe... thank god, we're wearing civi there. I'll probably come back to Perisher again this coming september break for a skiing course if winter is still around. If not, sun-shine coast would be a good alternative.
Following Saturday, there's a "Singapore Nite" party organised by singaporeans in the nearby uni, Australian National Univerity (ANU). Hope it'll b fun.
Before i end... hey jikok, thanks for the movie files. They all loved it. Get well soon.

Pairing up
They reali like to come in pairs...
Got my seat upgraded to business-class again.
My laptop got infected with not 1 but 4 viruses... and crashed, it's onli 7 months old.
i scored 100% for maths.
i expected to do well in computer tools as well, but no... just slightly above credit.

爱情线
i think god is mocking me.
i watched fantastic 4 with a fren not long ago. i was pretty saddened by the romance. it reminded me of my only love.
i met up with her today for movie. i gave her the liberty to choose, she chose the same movie. i din tell her i've watched it. it doesnt matter to me anyway, it's her that matter.
how i wish it could b a happy ending for us too... not few years down the road. i'm more impatient, i long for a happy ending, if possible, now. how i wish i can tell her i still like her.
i find myself behaving very much like him. Wait and wait, and still waiting... pondering over, or should i say creating, all sorts of 'variables' that will do no good and bring painful regrets... they still hurt.
i feels good chatting with her. i cant explain. i cant explain why i like her too... i just cant... "bo pian"?
i din intent to do anything, she is happy now with him.
i wish her well.

Here's the plan
Starting from ECP, the destination is Bukit Timah.
ECP > Fort Road > Kallang MRT > Park-connector to Bishan Park > Upper Thomson Road > Lower Pierce > BT
Apparently, following the kallang river upstream will eventually lead us to lower pierce reservior which is just next to BT. So most of the cycling route should be along the park connector built along the river.
There are some problems oso.
It's not easy to get from Fort Road to Kallang MRT as we'll be riding along the main road most of the time. Beware of honks from the vehicles and cursing from the passer-bys.
The map provided by the NPB shows a missing part along the conector on the way to Bishan park, from Bendemeer Camp to St Andrew School. I'm not sure wat it means... i hope it's not a dead end.
And lastly, from bishan park, we hafta get across upper thomson road before arriving at the nature reserve. I'm not sure if there's any cyclers-crossing along that stretch of road. It's a pretty busy road. Even if there's, it should be a overhead bridge. If crossing the black river becomes impossible on the h-hour then we can always change our plans and head up for AMK park nearby.
sounds convincing leh... but actually i know nothing about the route oso. here's the link to the maps. Take a look and see if u can find any more problems... ask the ppl around u who noes the place well oso...

Jikok, u're advice not to read this
Any one interested in a day-time bike ride?
My initial intention was Mac Ritchie but was pretty disappointing to find out that it's actually illegal to ride in the area. The next destination i have in mind is bukit timah, which will be pretty challenging (this is how it's described in the many reviews written online). I'm pretty flexible and open to other suggestions, anywhere should be fine.
It's in the day, so there wld definitely be a lot of heat and sweat and possibly burn. Think thrice before nodding.
I've asked QM and ZH about it, they are fine with the idea. But... QM is free on weekends; ZH is free on the weekdays, wat duh -_-"

Get the party started
Alright, finally the agony has come to an end. It's now time for the half-yearly notes-burning ritual...
Exams are over for me, finally i can sleep well and tight tonight without having to worry that i might missed my papers. Wait... no no... i think i've got a date tonight! Tonight is gonna be another long night... but for a better cause. It's gonna be a wonderful night of majong-ing (a long forgotten pastime!). HAHA... hope i wont kena chop again tonight @_@

'I DO I DO'
Just finished watching the movie "I do I do" in my fren's room. When was this screened in singapore?
It is a typical Jack Neo's movie, meaningful, and i quite like the humour used... how funny was it when li guohuang hit sharon au on the head at the hawker centre... and the stupid hui-ge seem to be omnipotent, appearing in different forms everywhere... but the movie is still no match for 'best bet' which kept me entertained right from the start (the starting song is freakin hilarious if u can understand the hokkien) till the end of the show.
my fren got the avi files of this movie when he went back to singapore in may. we share our movies around, esp chinese movies. we always do. when i first arrived i brought with me movies like kungfu hustle, world without thieves. Not many of us here haf seen them. and they like it heaps.
'I Do I Do' probably wasnt that wonderful. I wont watch it in the theatre if i'm in singapore (mayb vcd), but instead spend that money on some ang moh flicks.
Things seems to be more valuable when they are scarce.

前人种树 后人遭殃
It has been 2 years since i last sat for a major exam. and i was actually feeling kinda kan-cheong minutes before the physics paper yesterday... haha... i thot i had 'butterfly in my stomach'. but luckily all went well in the end. The onli problem was the temperature. I thot the examination hall will be air-conditioned to a comfortable temperature. Well, i obviously forgot that their definition of 'comfortable temperature' and mine defers greatly. So for the duration of the paper, i sat on my left hand. From time to time when i was not writing, i wld pop my right hand under my tighs as well to catch some warmth...
4 more papers to go... and i must remember to bring my gloves...
Life has been pretty easy with my studies. Without much effort, we (the singaporean) will pass easily. How much we study actually depends on how well we wanna do. This is true for this semester and the next as most of the stuffs which i'm doing now are mainly A level work with a bit more depth.
This first year of uni is like a 'moderation year'. The people we have here came from different parts of australia, and unlike singapore, aust doesnt haf a standardised A-level equivalent testing system at their grade 12 (our JC 2). Different states will have their own uni-qualification paper and the standard varies. As such, some ppl will do very well in this uni; other will be struggling just to keep up. To accomodate for this 'diversity' and bring everyone to the same standard (ideal case), we had this 'moderation year' and the results for this entire year will not b taken into consideration for honours. Honours will depends on subsequent years' work. So basically, we can relak and enjoy (while we can) for the whole of this year...
I'm enjoying myself. i actually find myself sleeping more than usual... and oso, there wasnt as much swearing and cursing on the '树' and 前人 such as Bohr, Newton and Planck, during this exam period. 算他们走运吧... let them RIP for one more sem.
i'm now in the library, trying to study for tomorrow's paper. I've done some this morning and i think it's more than enough. It's a OPEN-BOOK paper tmr, and with a 武林秘籍 tat has been pass down for generations in hand, hw much more should i be doing to pass the paper?

我们的故事
每一个人都是一本故事书。They each have their own story to tell.
有些人用尽法宝,把自己的封面与背面弄得别出心裁,一心希望能吸引读者。They want ppl to take notice of their existence. 同情,羡慕,impress...
我也有自己的故事可说。
我只是个很普通的故事书。我并不想要impress我的读者。我不要他们的羡慕或同情。
我只希望能留在书架上。

it's still early to die
Four letters summarize my life since i become the DDO: A B C D... Agony, Busy, COLD^100, Damn it!
i don seem to have enough time for myself or anyone else like i used to at the start of the year... no more 'dates with vampires'; no more SIMS 2; no more day-dreams...pui! and i almost forget that i owned a blog. sigh... i can always find a reason why i shouldnt be resting.
Anyway, exmas in two weeks time, 11 days to be precise. Gotta buck up and actually start studying. i seriously don wish to do last-minute work again, but i'm still not feeling the pressure... i'm being myself again.

Missing home again...
A couple of my frens just came back from singapore where they spent their two weeks break.
sigh... missing home once again.
Many people think highly of me... at least that's wat they appear to be telling me. They seem to think i'm having the best of my time here. Many ppl don get the chance to study overseas, and it seem mysterious and such a prestigious thing to be able to come here. Some envied... watever it may be...
Yes probably. To be truthful, i did gain a lot outta my stay here... but given another chance i may choose not to come.
The losses seem to be have out weigh the gains

龙虎榜
After months of testing and experimenting, me and my frens finally found a way to bypass the school network system and serve the net for free... or at least at a very low cost and it is absolutely legal! This sounds a bit cheapo budden whenever $$ is concerned, we'll go all out for it.
i'm current being charge for every MB of information passing thru the server to and fro my comp at some price which is already rather cheap. but the high usage has made it pretty expensive altogether... especially when i try to dl stuffs.
Anyway, this isnt the gist of tis post. Wat i need is an update of my playlist... Can someone pls update me on reali good 'long hu bang' songs since i left in january?

Fw: Some trivia
Here is some interesting facts that might start a conversation for you...
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.)
If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it! My grandmother had a near miss )
The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!)
A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. (In my next life, I want to be a pig.)
A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death! (Creepy) (I'm still not over the pig.)
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour (Don't try this at home, maybe at work)
The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. ("Honey, I'm home. What the....?!")
The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field. (30 minutes..lucky pig! Can you imagine?)
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)
Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still want to be a pig in my next life...quality over quantity)
Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.)
The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmmm......)
Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people. (If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)
Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (okay, so that would be a good thing)
A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.)
Starfish have no brains. (I know some people like that too.)
Polar bears are left-handed. (If they switch, they'll live a lot longer)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. (What about that pig??)

What's the Norm?
Normally in singapore when i came across newspaper articles regarding teacher having unacceptable sexual relationship wif under-age student, the teacher is always a male (and definitely the victim is a girl).
Interesting enough, in an article i read in the papers here today, it's a female teacher and a male 'victim'.

Weird Dream
It was a surprise that i actually remember my dream. I normally dont.
Anyway, I actually dreamt of ghosts last night... not a scary one. Possibly bcos i watch more "scary movies" than the real scary movies (hope u get wat i'm trying to bring across), that's why the ghosts in my dream a bit bo-liao and xiao4 oso...
I'm not a good narrator but if u're interested read on.

me and my DO 结伴 to eat at some hawker centre (in singapore i suppose... 嗨,日有所思,也有所梦...). and i think it's at night. It should be night time cos ghost normally appears at night.
When i was going round, looking for wat to eat, i came to a noodle store owned by two men. One of them was an uncle (the other was a younger bloke), and was in there making noodle by hand. He tossed and flipped a very big dough many times... the dough began to stretch. And because it's huge, the dough stretched so long that it almost touched the ceiling everytime the uncle fling the dough (NB: this is a dream... impossible things happen). Then suddenly the dough seem to caught hold of sth hidden on the 粱. It's massive and fell right into the stall. Out of curiousity, i went and took a look. When i was close enough, the two man dragged me down wif them behind the stall, hidden from the view of other ppl. Oh my god!!! It's a dead body!
"how boss? report police surely become scapegoat one," the bloke ask the uncle.
"hmmm, let's 毁尸灭迹 then..."
"How? so many ppl..."
"hmmm, (looking at the pot of boiling oil)... 油炸鬼!"
Then suddenly the ghost open her eyes and floated away almost immediately. She 飘 towards the escalator where she collide with another ghost(?) just before gettin on it. Both of them ended up smoking beside the escalator chit chatting away... ...

Don ever jio me to watch scary movies, u'll not succeed... i never see the point of spending money to scare myself. It is definitely not a good test of gut.

Nothing from the aussies and definitely not from those frens back home. 在星加坡那短暂的 december break, 看见朋友的生日 party, 当然我很羡慕。但我非常了解择这个感觉,它又不是第一次来访,时不时都来找我谈心。我跟它可说是 good old fren. 所以我懂得如何应付它。星期三那天,一起身我就告诉自己:这将会是个平凡的一日。。。indeed i was right. 那天,没什么值得开心的; nothing to be sad about too. Just a normal day.
都这么多年没庆祝过生日了,does it make any difference? 21 is just a number 'magicfy' by people. 对我来说那只是个号码。13 加 8 等于的数字;black jack 的 maximum points. 它也清楚的告诉我,从 1984 年 4 月 27 日那天开始,地球已经绕了太阳二十一次了。

Belated Bdae Celebration Tonight... but i got a test tml!!! ...heck it...
Sigh... last week was indeed a very hectic week for me...
Firstly, it was my first week as a Duty Divisional Orderly (DDO) i.e. sai-kang Master for the division... sth like the wing commd in OCS budden i got no jurisdical power, cannot give my people WPs or confinements. My job was basically to ensure the smooth running of the division for 3 freakin' months as required by the staffs... sigh... not an easy job siah. Everyday oso got shit falling on me... from various places, OC, DO, PO... This morning got rounds by the Dy Commd of the academy, so last night clean like siao lidat. I was first man in, last man out... then at the same time still hafta run around chasing ppl, with broom and mop, to get out of their rooms to clean. sigh... 心酸无人知... Then come this morning, i thot it was good enough liao, i beliv it was definitely better than last week, but that Dy was still not happy... '一刀见血', 流到血都干了...
Then, i have like 2 heavy-weightage assignments due last week, another 2 class tests too... the freaky statics test was one of them. Most of the other tests here are fairly easy, to the extent that some of them are like 污辱我的智慧. But statics is reali scary. 80% of the students failed the last one; i'm part of the lucky 20%. Probably the lecturer is a real dickhead, that's wat every1 think about him... he doesnt teach much and expect us to read on our own. budden 以我的个性, it'll be hard to get me to read those 'nerd-conversion' book. i probably wont even touch it till the very last min...
我的生日就这样在书丛里度过了.
