it was in my plan to buy a one-way tix back home this time. and then from now on buy return tix to aust in singapore. the initial cost will be steep, but eventually, this will end up cheaper than buying 2-way in aust everytime.
to reduce the initial damage, i chose to travel on a less reputable airline: gulf-air.
'woa! serious ar!'
'eh, got insurance annot?'
'aiyo, got bar-woo one leh.'
these were some of the response from my mate when i first told them about my flight.
one of them added that the flight might not serve alcohol onboard. another suggested that i should bring some sleeping pills along. and one more who have travelled on gulf before told me that the entertainment system was faulty.
despite all these discouragements, i still went ahead with my plan.
when i got on the plane yesterday, there was a bit of drama. but other than that, the whole flight all went well and smooth. i didnt at all regret about taking gulf air. in fact, i was pretty relieved that i was on that flight!
believe it annot, for the third consecutive time, i was upgraded to business class!
the first time, was a free upgrade with no reason or string attached. the second time, also on BA, i was upgraded again bcos a long-legged guy was seatd behind me. i cant slant my seat back bcos of his long leg. for that i was upgraded. this time, i was upgraded for a couple of reasons.
(1) i was issued with a boarding pass for LIM WEE HAN. i looked around the check-in area and see no other chinese. i thought it was a typo mistake, or just a careless one as i doubt they wld come across chinese name very aften. so i didnt reali bother to seek for correction. as you would have expected, there was reali a LIM WEE HAN. what a coincidence. probably the onli 2 yellows onboard, but with almost similar name. anyway, the air stewardess was quick in her reaction and i was soon led to my new seat.
(2) some other guy was there at my new seat. he was a black guy, so he cant be LIM WEE something for obvious reason. after a few minutes, it was found that my seat was somehow allocated in the middle of his family, and he was given a seat further down the corridor, probably bcos of late check-in. after some explanation and negotiation, i was given my 'rightful seat'... er... with his brother on my left and his father on my right... what duh...
few minutes later, the air-stewardess that had been helping me all those while came back to me with good news. haha... i was again offered a seat in the business class!
well, it seems that things arent as bad as i've thot or told. the service was good and they spoke good english. the food wasnt the norm that i've been taking, but was still alright. everything was reali good and comparable to that of BA. well, i cant be complaining much with the service i was getting for a 500+ air-fare. some one up there seem to love me.

pre-departure snack - champagne and nuts

post-departure snack - jonnie walker and some snack. dont like the snack. a bit saltish for me.

dinner...

dinner again...

just when i thought dinner was over... more came.

this was for breakfast
